At JourneyPure Serenity Network, our clinical vision is to bring our patients back to optimal health by implementing an individual treatment plan that addresses both the addiction and any underlying co-occurring mental health disorders. Under a Dual Diagnosis treatment model, each patient is surrounded by a multi-disciplinary team of medical and psychiatric professionals ready to rid the body of harmful substances and implement a plan for long-term recovery.
Holistic Approach to Treatment
Addressing the addiction is a substantial piece of any treatment plan, but we believe that restoring the body, mind and spirit is essential to support long-term recovery. These pieces make a person whole, therefore need to be taken into consideration throughout treatment and recovery. We utilize meditation and other mindfulness exercises to help our patients connect inward and reduce stress. Experiential therapies like art and drama are used to explore and uncover hidden emotional trauma. Throughout treatment, we instill the importance of nutrition, sleep and exercise – the three pillars of health – and their importance during recovery.
Link Between Addiction and Trauma
According to dualdiagnosis.org two-thirds of addicts have experienced some form of physical or sexual trauma during childhood. We often see addiction cases coupled with PTSD, depression anxiety or bi-polar disorder. Because these disorders are so closely intertwined, research shows that addressing the addiction and stabilizing mental health disorders simultaneously is best for long-term recovery. Our new Women’s Center offers trauma-informed care from highly-trained staff knowledgeable in addiction and health issues specific to women.
Affordable Care, Excellent Staff
We believe that everyone deserves affordable treatment for addiction and mental health services without sacrificing quality care. In addition to our trauma-informed care team at Serenity Women’s Center, we have a team that specializes in high-risk pregnancies. While many facilities will not accept pregnant women who are addicted, we provide a safe haven for these mothers-to-be who are concerned about the well-being of their unborn child. Our partnership with the University of Tennessee Medical Center provides an excellent resource for expert physicians, including Dr. Craig Towers, a leader in the research and treatment of pregnant women with addiction issues.
