As a family member of someone struggling with addiction, you most likely have a lot of emotions you’re trying to process and you undoubtedly have questions. We do not allow visitation during residential treatment, therefore family weekend is a great resource for parents, and other family members to learn more about the treatment their loved one is receiving.
During family weekend at JourneyPure Serenity Network, a staff member will provide all the information you need about the care your loved one is receiving and answer any questions you may have. We also feel it’s important to help family members understand the science of addiction – how and why this disease changes the brain, why relapse is so prevalent, and why it’s so difficult to give up the drugs on their own. Therapists facilitate exercises that help foster positive, healthy communication, something that may have been difficult to this point. Families will begin to understand their role in this battle and how to help their loved one during recovery.
